What This Course Is
This course is designed for new and beginner shooters who want a proper, structured introduction to handgun safety and fundamentals. You will leave with real skills — not just range time. Curriculum follows the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting framework, delivered by Dr. Rehan Tahir.
✅ This IS the right class if you're new to shooting. If you're an experienced shooter pursuing a Riverside County CCW permit, see the CCW License Course instead.
Course Content
- Fundamental rules of firearm safety
- Pistol components, operation, and action types
- Ammunition — types, selection, and safe handling
- Shooting fundamentals — grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control
- Safe loading, unloading, and storage
- Legal responsibilities of gun ownership in California
- Live-fire exercises at Riverside Magnum Range

Come Prepared
- A handgun — if you own one. Loaners may be available at the range; contact instructor to confirm.
- Eye and ear protection — required on the range, no exceptions
- 50 rounds of ammunition compatible with your firearm
- Government-issued photo ID
